Power Reaper Machine Price in India: What Actually Decides It

Four things move the number on the quotation — and only two of them are about the machine. Here is how to read a power reaper price before you commit.

Ask three dealers for a power reaper machine price and you will get three different numbers. That is not because the machines are different; it is because each quotation bundles different things. Once you know what sits inside the price, comparing offers becomes straightforward.

1. Engine option: diesel or petrol

This is the single largest line in the price. A 5 hp Greaves diesel engine with a 3-belt drive costs more up front than a 5 hp Honda GX200 petrol with a 2-belt drive. The diesel machine weighs around 250 kg, holds 4.5 litres and burns 800–1000 ml per hour. The petrol machine weighs around 230 kg, holds 3.1 litres and burns 700–900 ml per hour.

The cheaper machine is not automatically the better buy. If you will hire the reaper out or run it daily through the season, the diesel model recovers its extra cost through lower running cost per acre. If it is for your own two to five acres, petrol wins on price, weight and ease of starting.

2. Belt configuration

A 3-belt drive transmits more torque to the cutter bar, which is what lets the diesel model work in crop up to 10 feet tall. The 2-belt petrol machine is happiest between 2 and 6 feet. Do not pay for a 3-belt machine if your crop never gets that tall — and do not buy a 2-belt machine for heavy standing crop and then blame the machine.

3. Seating attachment

Many quotations include a reaper seating arrangement and many do not. It is a 70 kg bolt-on attachment that turns the walk-behind machine into a riding one, fitted in about 30 minutes. When you compare two prices, check whether one of them has this in the bundle — it is the most common reason two quotes look far apart.

4. Who you are buying from

A price from a distributor carries a margin that a price from the manufacturer does not. We build every machine in-house in Ahmedabad — cutting, welding, assembly and load testing under one roof — so there is no reseller layer between the plant and your field.

Do not forget subsidy

Several state agriculture departments offer machinery subsidy on reapers. Applications are usually decided on documentation, not eligibility: land records, an Aadhaar-linked bank account and a valid quotation from a registered manufacturer cover most requirements. Apply before your district window closes — allocations often run out well before the stated deadline.
